Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Vessel Assessment Team (VAT) Operations Specialist to help support our current USMC contract out of Brisbane, Australia.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The Operations Specialist will assess the vessel’s mission capability and crew efficiency, and report findings to the Sponsors via the VAT Manager. 
  • The role includes evaluating the vessel’s ability to integrate with existing platforms and infrastructure.
  • Evaluate the vessel’s operational performance and submit reports for review by the Sponsors via the VAT Manager.
  • Present recommendations for enhancing crew, efficiency, and vessel performance to the Sponsors via the VAT Manager.
  • Present recommendations for enhancing Embarked Force’s operational planning for the utilization of the SLV (STS) as a maneuver, mobility and sustainment platform.
  • Conduct assessments and observations as outlined by the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory and Littoral Manoeuvre Program (LiMP) Office of vessel, crew and the Embarked Force.
  • Provide input and/or create, and submit daily situation reports, and other requirements.
  • Review Marine Corps Training & Readiness (T&R) standards and Fleet Training Readiness Assessment (FTRA) and be able to apply this information into operational assessments of littoral operations of the SLV (STS)’s ability to provide the assigned unit with a maneuver, mobility and sustainment platform.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and duties as required by the VAT Manager or SLV (STS) Project Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and at least 5 years of experience with safety compliance in maritime or naval operations. Additional 2 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in shipboard logistics, amphibious planning and/or embarkation operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Marine Corps processes, procedures, and interoperability requirements
  • Extensive experience in maritime operations and mission assessments.
  • Desire, but not required, is to have a former Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) or Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) with operating from an Amphibious Warfare Ship experience.
  • Completion of Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) and/or Command and Staff College (CSC)
  • Littoral and Amphibious Operations (EABO, MPF, ESG, ARG/MEU integration) experience and/or understanding.

Clearance Requirement:

  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Physical Requirement:

  • Requires the ability to work aboard vessel and ashore
