ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Staff Technical Writer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. The position is onsite.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in collecting and organizing information for various documentation, including but not limited to user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, reports, SOPs, playbooks, flow charts, AARs, and RCAs
Edit documents, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents
Translate technical information into clear and concise documentation that is easily understandable by end-users, system administrators, and stakeholders
While collaboration with the IT team is necessary to some degree, the expectation is the Technical Writer will work independently to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of all technical documentation produced
Organize and structure information effectively to facilitate easy navigation and retrieval of documentation
Frequently review and edit existing documentation to improve clarity, accuracy, and readability
Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and make recommendations for process improvements
Responsible for regularly updating, reviewing, and adjudicating 850+ existing documents, as well as submitting new documents to the repository
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree, or High School Diploma and 6 years of additional relevant experience
5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
Knowledge of commonly used technical writing concepts, practices, and procedures
Proficiency in using documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems like SharePoint
Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)
Security Clearance Requirements:
US Citizenship required and an active TS clearance adjudicated within the last 6 years
Candidate must be open to poly if selected by the customer
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
