MANTECH seeks a motivated, mission- and customer-oriented Technical Editor, Writer to join our team in the Lexington Park, MD, area.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing/updating technical documentations in extensible Markup Language (XML) using Arbortext Editor authoring software, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Pro
Ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and/or specifications, i.e., MIL-STD-38784, military aircraft technical manual style guides, and GPO Style Manual; this includes incorporating changes in document sections, formatting, autobook marking, creating hyperlinks, linking captions, creating tables, creating citations, searching and replacing styles and special characters, indexing, and similar automated functions
Ensuring technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style
Experience with graphic resolution for insertion into documentation
Ensuring written files and information are kept up to date and stored in accordance with procedures
Performing technical writing assignments with minimal direct supervision
Developing materials that may not have prescribed standards (e.g., creating style sheets)
Interviewing production and engineering personnel to develop the understanding required to perform technical writing assignments
Reviewing written materials and recommending revisions or changes in scope, format, and content
Rewriting technical information for clarity
Participating in developing and writing a variety of technical reports, software user manuals, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses
Coordinating- the display of graphics in the production/publication of the document
Using provided training and guidance to properly document classification markings
Managing document version control for frequently updated documents
Using online resources and collaborative environments in the production of documents
Maintaining a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
Writing correspondence, such as cover letters, summarizing all recommended changes
Providing design support to ensure communications and collateral adhere to strict brand guidelines
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
5+ years of related technical writing experience
3+ years of experience with PTC Arbortext or XML editing software tools
Attention to detail with ability to accurately proofread and perform quality assurance on technical data
Strong organizational and time management skills; must be able to multitask, prioritize, and manage deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to support frequent meetings and technical work onsite and offsite NAS Patuxent River
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of demonstrated experience directly related to military aircraft technical data products and manuals (NATOPS/NATIP)
Experience producing technical documents either in a program office, on a proposal team, or as a technical writer
Experience with built-in editors in collaborative software applications
Knowledge of S1000-D content management
Clearance Requirement:
Must have a Secret clearance to start.
Physical Requirements:
Tasking is primarily computer based. The person in this position must be able to operate and perform tasking on a PC.
Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, Customers, and management through email, phone, and other virtual communication methods (e.g. TEAMS, ZOOM).
The projected compensation range for this position is $86,500.00-$144,300.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
