ManTech seeks a motivated, customer-oriented Technical Editor to join our team supporting the NAVSEA/NSWCCD in Bethesda, MD. This is an on-site position.

In this role, you will be responsible for editing and providing written support for a variety of technical reports and white papers for a naval submarine program at Carderock. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical editing, working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to improve clarity, organization, and conciseness of complex documents.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with a team of editors to support the development of technical reports and white papers for a naval submarine program within NAVSEA.

  • Revise technical documents based on feedback from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to improve narrative structure, clarity, and conciseness.

  • Guide and track written products through the entire lifecycle, which includes populating templates, preparing drafts, reviewing SME feedback, and compiling final documents.

  • Assist with organizing and archiving documentation for the program's library and ensuring proper version control of files.

  • Assist with updating and maintaining templates for written products to ensure consistency across documents.

  • Continuously evaluate reporting processes for efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Compile, update, and maintain style guides to ensure consistency in formatting, grammar, and style across all program documents.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 5+ years of relevant experience in technical editing

  • 5+ years of experience providing editing support to technical/engineering SMEs, especially on sensitive programs and topics related to DoD or military programs

  • 5+ years of experience writing, editing, and revising highly technical and scientific content for diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent command of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, with exceptional attention to detail and consistency.

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and PDF-authoring tools (Adobe Acrobat or PDF-XChange Editor) for preparing technical reports.

  • Proven team player with demonstrated success working collaboratively with others.

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex technical issues in both written and verbal formats

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have an active and current Secret security clearance prior to starting the position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of operating standard office equipment (computers, printers, etc.).

  • Must be able to communicate professionally with colleagues, management, and clients, both in person and remotely.


The projected compensation range for this position is $67,300.00-$111,900.00.
