MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Tactical Operations and Weapons Specialist to join our team in Patuxent River, MD. This is an onsite position.
This role supports NAVAIR’s Systems Engineering Department (SED). SED is a key part of NAVAIR’s efforts to acquire and sustain naval aviation capabilities and plays a crucial role in the development, testing, and support of naval aircraft and weapons systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensuring weaponeering, NATOPS, and NTRP (NATIP) products contain accurate and up-to-date data for naval tactical aircraft and associated weapons systems
Providing expertise in aircraft and weapon systems, including operational procedures, installation and maintenance, failure analysis, and technical support for avionics, airframes, weapons, navigation, fire control, and related systems
Delivering advanced technical knowledge and analysis in specialized applications and operational environments, including systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, training, troubleshooting, and implementation
Analyzing data, identifying and resolving complex technical or organizational problems, and providing recommendations to improve operational effectiveness
Supporting project execution, business and technical operations, strategic initiatives, workforce development, and business process improvements as required
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Business, Management, Technical, or Scientific field from an accredited college or university
8+ years of recent and relevant professional experience with aircraft tactical systems employment
Must be an O-3 rank or higher
Graduate of a Navy Weapons School (e.g., TOPGUN), Test Pilot School (TPS), or Marine Aviation Weapons Training Squadron-1 (MAWTS-1)
Must be a Weapons Tactics Instructor (WTI) and possess one of the following: Navy Pilot or Naval Flight Officer (NFO) with at least 700 flight hours, Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), Tactics Officer (TACCO), Head of a Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), Weapon Systems Officer (WSO), or another related military occupational specialist
Preferred Qualifications:
Fleet experience with the ability to communicate with Fleet Staffs on Hazard Reports, Safety Action Reports, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation progress
Experience serving as a Fleet Safety liaison, supporting safety investigations, trend analysis, and coordination with safety offices
Experience participating in Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR), ensuring compliance with engineering standards and program milestones
Familiarity with Reliability Control Board (RCB) processes, including reliability data analysis and recommendations for system improvements
Applied knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) planning to optimize maintenance strategies and system availability
Hands-on experience with Configuration Management, including maintaining system baselines and managing controlled changes
Understanding of Airworthiness standards and processes, including compliance documentation and certification support
Clearance Requirements:
Must have an active Secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements:
Tasking is primarily computer based. The person in this position must be able to operate and perform tasking on a PC.
Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers, and management through email, phone, and other virtual communication methods (e.g. TEAMS, ZOOM).
The projected compensation range for this position is $96,100.00-$159,900.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
