MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Systems Engineer to join our team remotely and support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) on the Navy’s program in Dahlgren, VA.

The scope of this effort is to provide ship integration services that address the physical design, installation, test and maintenance of warfare systems and to ensure systems are installed correctly aboard ship and in accordance with ship building specifications. This effort shall include warfare system integration, planning, design engineering, review/modification of design specifications, and drawing development for in-service ships.

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with a focus on the interface and ship design, equipment installation and planning, industrial level testing, and at-sea qualification of the combat system during construction, extended availabilities, underway events and sea trials for Amphibious Class Ships including, but not limited to, LHA 6 Class, LHD Class, and LPD 17 Class Ships.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide technical resolution for identified ship system/integration issues, including Design Liaison Action Records (DLARs), Liaison Action Requests (LARs), Reverse LARs, Inspection Reports (IRs), Problem Reports (PRs), and ship specific issues
  • Interface with appropriate In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA), Combat System Engineering Agent (CSEA), Program Acquisition Resource Manager (PARM), Technical Warrant Holders (TWHs), availability/platform managers, port engineers, waterfront representatives, planning yards and Regional Maintenance and Modernization Coordination Offices (RMMCO)
  • Evaluate system level interface issues and provide recommendations as they may impact ship design, integration, documentation, or guidance to the shipbuilder and provide recommendations to resolve configuration issues and deficiencies to minimize negative impacts to ship design and ship/system integration
  • Perform in-depth reviews of PARM provided Installation Control Drawings (ICDs), Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs), Government Furnished Information (GFI), Contractor Furnished Information (CFI), and other information to support ship design including installation documentation for impact to space and overall warfare system ship integration efforts
  • Support NSWCDD in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of configuration management for ship integration engineering including the support, coordinate, and/or attend various ship integration meetings to include engineering reviews and critique of warfare system ship integration proposals and efforts, identifying engineering shortfalls, and key trade requirements and Program Reviews, technical meetings and conferences and other facilities as specified by the Government. Meetings include Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Working Groups (WGs), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Quarterly PARM reviews, and Phone Conferences given a 24-hour notice
  • Conduct ship checks to gauge and project construction/overhauls progress and determine if space arrangement, integration, interface, and GFI requirements are being met during the ship modernization availability and produce Projected Class Baseline (PCB) space arrangements and system block diagrams drawings.
  • This position is 100% remote with 25% travel CONUS/OCONUS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline and at least 2 or more years of related Navy Combat Systems experience, or High school Diploma with 8 or more years of related Navy Combat Systems experience
  • Experience in conducting detailed, complex Warfare System engineering activities associated with engineering systems, capabilities, and activities
  • Demonstrated experience with functional and system level requirements analysis, requirements generation and technical community review associated with Warfare Systems
  • Demonstrated experience with Warfare System design, performance, analysis, operational experience for military applications
  • Knowledge of Interior Communications, Combat Systems, and Navigation Systems design support of NSWCDD V34, Amphibious Class Warfare Systems Integration for Amphibious Class Ships (including LHA 6, LHD 1/5, and LPD 17)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Navy Combat Systems, Navigation Systems, and/or RADAR Systems
  • Ability to make presentations to a large audience, which may include high-ranking officers
  • Ability to work independently and to successfully multi-task between numerous concurrent tasks
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, & Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with modeling tools to include Autodesk AutoCad, Autodesk Inventor, and CAMEO systems modeler
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a United States Citizen with a current/active Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work remotely in a stationary position 50% of the time, working at a desk or computer terminal
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of computer equipment


The projected compensation range for this position is $68,800.00-$114,700.00.
