ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Propulsion Engineer to join our team working Remotely.
The employee in this role serves as a Propulsion Systems Engineer directly supporting the Nimitz (CVN68) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Propulsion System Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN 68) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Propulsion System Engineering Manager (SEM)
Provide engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN 68) Class technical experience.
Provide responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), Liaison Action Request (LAR), Steam Plant Action Request (SPAR), Availability Work Package (AWP) Change Request
Participate and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs)
Review Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs) for Planned Maintenance System (PMS) changes requiring Designated Technical Representative (DTR) review.
Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve Propulsion System technical matters.
Draft Class advisories for issuance through the Program Office and review In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) and Fleet advisories.
Provide technical guidance and/or resolution to actions in the Warfighter Improvement Program (WIP) and the Propulsion Plant Matters (PPM)
Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide technical recommendations.
Develop formal presentations to brief to senior officials.
Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit proposals for changes
Travel up to 10%
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
10+ years of Engineering experience supporting the U.S. Navy
Must have experience with U.S. Navy Nimitz (CVN 68) aircraft carrier propulsion systems
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active or current U.S. government Secret clearance
Physical Requirements:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
