Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated career and customer-orientated Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Systems Engineer to join our team in Dahlgren, VA. This is an On-Site position.
Job Summary:
In this role you will provide technical, engineering, and analytical services for Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Interoperability of the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) for aircraft carriers and large deck amphibious ships as well as the combat system elements being integrated with SSDS. The T&E effort supports the government’s responsibility to determine if the combat system is ready to be delivered to the ship and certified for use in the fleet.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Evaluation of system level requirements, writing of test cases, scenarios, and test procedures to fully test the capabilities of the system requirements
Execution of the procedures, data analysis, and the creation of concise trouble reports to allow the system developers and subject matter experts to understand a recreate the problem identified and well as characterize the impact to the overall system capabilities
Working within a multi-contractor/government integrated test team and supporting the government test directors with additional backup data, research, and analysis to support the test findings and recommendation on software certification
Demonstrate proficiency in Navy Surface Ship Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul processes and programs
Conduct a thorough analysis of maintenance and operational system data, assessing training adequacy and recommending improvements
Facilitate meetings with large groups, create meeting agendas and minutes, and lead outreach communications efforts such as newsletters and email updates
Maintain proficiency in information technology software such as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Minimum Qualifications
Eight (8) years of experience in Combat Systems Engineering, five (5) years of which is with the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Combat System as well as interfacing sensors and ship systems
3+ years of experience with Data Links (Link-11 and Link-16) and Strike Group Interoperability (SGI)
3+ years of general experience in the engineering, design, development, or testing and evaluation of a Navy combat systems
2 years of recent experience in any of the following:
Test requirements definition
Test Plan/Procedures development, maintenance, and execution
Test data reduction and analysis
Computer program performance analysis and reporting
Position requires about 40% travel primarily to Wallops Island, VA, Moorestown, NJ, Corona, CA, DAM Neck, VA and Arlington, VA to support test events and requires flexibility for short notice test site support for emergent testing that can occur on a daily basis due to adjustments to planned events.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Experience with the Next Generation Simulation (NGS) or other simulations is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing requirements
Clearance Requirements:
US Citizenship required and an active Secret clearance
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
Occasional movement within the office for communication and accessing resources.
