ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Project Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. This position is onsite.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Resolve engineering problems related to CVN propulsion plant systems. Act as an agent for improving propulsion plant material readiness
Review electrical and mechanical maintenance, repair, alteration, and operation of assigned systems, including nuclear propulsion plant equipment
Review and validate baseline nuclear repair packages. Assess Reactor Maintenance Requirements (RMRs) for conflicts and contingency maintenance needs
Review modernization efforts, Ship Change Documents (SCDs), and AFOM assignments in the Navy Data Environment (NDE)/Entitled Process (EP)
Support Material Condition Assessment Program (MCAP) and oversee execution, process improvements, and database approvals
Coordinate with NAVSEA, NSWCs, Naval Shipyards, and Regional Maintenance Centers on hull, mechanical, and electrical (HM&E) issues
Provide technical evaluation for Departure from Specification (DFS) requests
Support Fleet self-repair work package development and provide repair guidance
Assist in quality assurance program execution, including inspections, reviews, and audits
Support the Motor Vibration Analysis Program
Travel up to 25%
Minimum Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in Navy ship maintenance or current experience in role
5+ years of recent experience working in aircraft carrier repair, maintenance, and modernization in support of Navy, Program Office, and Type Commander programs
5+ years of experience planning and coordinating ship repair and maintenance
3+ years of minimum experience in TYCOM staff procedures or current experience in role
Knowledge of Type Commander, shipboard, regional maintenance center and Naval Sea Systems Command organizations and functions related to ship maintenance and modernization
Knowledge of Type Commander, shipboard, regional maintenance center and Naval Sea Systems Command organizations and functions related to ship maintenance and modernization
nuclear program graduate
Ability to communicate and interface with senior Navy personnel (06/GS-15) on a routine basis
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Clearance Requirements:
US Citizenship required and an active Secret clearance
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary Work, lift and carry 50 lbs
The person in this position must be capable to go onboard a ship in an operational and industrial environment
Able to climb ladders and go through scuttles onboard vessels
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual
