MANTECH is seeking a motivated, career and client-oriented Principal Data and AI Data Specialist to join our Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) practice in Chantilly, VA.  This is an on-site position.
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic advice and technical leadership to clients and program staff on all aspects of the data lifecycle.
  • Translate high-level mission and business requirements into a long-term data strategy and technical roadmap.
  • Architect and design comprehensive, end-to-end data solutions, encompassing data platforms, pipelines, storage, and analytics capabilities.
  • Establish and document enterprise-level frameworks and standards for data quality, metadata management, and data governance, in partnership with policy specialists.
  • Evaluate emerging data technologies, platforms, and methodologies, providing expert recommendations for modernization and improvement. 
  • Serve as the principal mentor for technical staff, guiding the implementation of the data solutions you design. May supervise others.
     

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in enterprise-level data strategy and management roles. Demonstrated history of designing and implementing large-scale data solutions or overseeing the creation of such solutions (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses) for federal government or military clients. Additional equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Expert-level ability to translate mission requirements into architectures or long-term strategic roadmaps.
  • Expert-level understanding of the concepts and strategic application of modern data platforms, cloud services (AWS, Azure), and enterprise data governance principles.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a management consultant for a major Federal consulting firm
  • Professional-level cloud certification related to data or solutions architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
  • Experience should include titles such as Data Architect, Data Strategist, or senior advisor roles within a Chief Data Officer (CDO) organization.
  • Direct experience implementing formal data governance or Master Data Management (MDM) programs.
  • A documented history of successfully modernizing a client's data infrastructure or strategy.
  • Familiarity with the federal policy landscape governing data, such as data sharing agreements, privacy regulations, and security controls.
     

Clearance Requirements:

  • US citizenship
  • Must have active TS clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
  • Travel up to 25%

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time 
  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer 
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations 
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc
