Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Nuclear Ship’s Propulsion Engineer to join our team in Norfolk, VA
Summary:
This position will be overall responsible for the scoping, preparing, development, validation, implementation, and life cycle maintenance of Propulsion systems for Carrier readiness and Modernization. Responsible for assigned efforts on US Nuclear Aircraft Carrier (CVN) ships.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Participate in meetings/conferences to provide recommendations and insight concerning CVN Propulsion system readiness.
Assist in providing recommendations for CVN policy and procedural changes incident to CVN readiness, outfitting incident to new construction, and new support programs associated with Naval shipboard support.
Review the ship’s maintenance, modernization, and repairs for CNO availabilities and maintenance upkeeps.
Assist Ship's Force in maintaining CVN Ships material readiness and identifying CNO maintenance availability work.
Assist in collecting, reviewing, integrating, and analyzing historical and current maintenance information from aircraft carrier sources as required in order to develop statistical, graphical and text analysis of equipment reliability and maintenance trends.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED, and 10 years of experience of direct involvement with Naval Nuclear Propulsion onboard aircraft carriers with a strong knowledge in hull, mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for aircraft carriers
Eight (8) years working knowledge of Nuclear policies, procedures, practices and instructions on CVN’s, can be in conjunction with above experience
Experience in use of Microsoft Office Products
Experience working with naval crew
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Engineering or Technical field
Recent experience working directly with Gov CVN teams
Experience analyzing and evaluating Nuclear Ships, to make recommendations of maintenance actions to the Maintenance Program Manager. –
Experience in Navy Data Environment (NDE) for Ship Change Documents (SCD). –
Experience with system and equipment deficiencies to ensure Departure From Specification (DFS) are issued when warranted and schedule same for future corrective action
Experience in Steam Plant Action Request (SPAR), Steam Plant Liaison Inquiry (SPLI) and Liaison Action Request (LAR) for critical information updates.
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen and have an active Secret Security Clearance, Interim Clearance is acceptable to start
Physical Requirements:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Manipulate standard office equipment, Computer, Files, Fax Machine. etc.
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual
The person in this position must be able to climb vertical ladders, Galleyways, Planks, and take stairs as necessary for shipboard visits.
