ManTech seeks a motivated, career, and customer-oriented Network Engineering Technician to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD. This is an onsite position.
As a Network Engineering Technician, you will have the opportunity to work on critical defense projects, building, configuring, and integrating RF and IP-based video distribution systems for installation on U.S. Navy ships. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, eager to take on "racking & stacking" challenges, and work with broadcast, cable TV, and surveillance camera systems for U.S. Navy ships.
As part of the team, you will support system design, installation, and lifecycle support of broadcast, cable, and IPTV systems, contributing to the U.S. Navy’s mission-critical operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Build, integrate, install, and upgrade broadcast, IPTV, and surveillance camera systems for U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Military Sealift Command ships
Interpret and understand system and equipment drawings, cable run sheets, and technical specifications
Integrate broadcast, cable, and IPTV equipment into racks to meet system requirements
Fabricate, terminate, and run various cables (audio, coaxial, multi-pin) within equipment racks
Update computers, cameras, and other hardware/software associated with systems in the test center
Conduct system tests and troubleshooting in our test facility to ensure system functionality
Develop and update system documentation for field technicians to maintain shipboard systems
Adhere strictly to configuration management principles while building and maintaining systems, and update as-built drawings and documentation when changes are made
Provide installation support on ships, with potential travel for on-site assistance
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Degree (GED)
3+ years of experience integrating and maintaining broadcast systems, IPTV systems, home automation/security systems, VTC, or similar systems
3+ years of experience fabricating, troubleshooting, and repairing audio, video, and network cable systems
3+ years of experience in using desktop and laptop computers for maintenance tracking, documentation development, and system updates
3+ years of experience in IP network configurations for PCs, cameras, and other host devices
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on Navy ships in shipyard environments
Familiarity with IP-based television and/or camera systems
Knowledge of video surveillance systems and RF television distribution systems using coaxial and fiber optic cabling
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a current U.S. Secret or Interim Secret clearance
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain stationary for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to move around the office and facility for equipment access, communication, and meetings
Ability to kneel, stoop, bend, and climb ladders
Ability to work in confined spaces or challenging environments as required
