Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented assistant to the Naval Availability Planning Department Assistant to join our team in Portsmouth, VA.
Summary
The Surface Maintenance Engineering, Planning, Program (SURFMEPP) maintains, monitors, and refines Class-wide and Individual-Ship Maintenance Plans for all non-nuclear surface ships to ensure material readiness for the projected service life, develop life-cycle strategies to address system upgrades, and fully implement the Class Maintenance Plan into each surface ship's maintenance schedule and availability planning process. SURFMEPP is headquartered at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work within a 112-person department addressing the documenting, scheduling and monitoring to completion of depot level maintenance for Navy Surface Ships.
Oversee work assignments, personnel actions and productivity of contractor support personnel assigned to the Availability Planning Department.
Support all aspects of communications and ensure alignment of messaging. Interact with senior level government staff members, create charts and graphs to support briefings or reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Management or Scientific Field
Program Manager Professional (PMP)
Fifteen (15) or more years experience in one or more of the following
Experience in Navy Project Management or surface combatant ship maintenance management
Experience with the management of Navy Surface Ship depot level contracted maintenance
Experience with Navy/Military Maintenance Database Programs (i.e. NDE, NMD, M&SWP)
Experience in developing and briefing Navy maintenance issues.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.)
Ability to supervise and mentor less experienced employees
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree Management or Scientific Field
Experience managing work products developed in matrixed project teams
Experience with facilitating meetings both internal to your organization and involving other external stakeholders
Experience with the development and upkeep of effectiveness metrics
Experience conducting ad-hoc analysis of surface ship maintenance and modernization issues
Experience interacting with various customers and other Navy Commands and Activities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to speak in front of Senior Military and Government Officials and large audiences
Clearance Requirements
Must be a US Citizen and have an Active US Secret clearance
Physical Requirements
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Manipulate standard office equipment, Computer, Files, Fax Machine. etc..
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual.
