ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Mission Assurance Engineer to join our team.
As a Mission Assurance Engineer at ManTech you will play a vital role in supporting the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program and the Assured Access to Space (AATS) organization. Your responsibilities will include diverse assignments aimed at ensuring the overall success of the NSSL program.
You will be part of our Engineering Mission Assurance Team, contributing to the future direction and organization of the NSSL and AATS. This position offers an opportunity to work with a world-class team and contribute to the advancement of aerospace design, certification, and launch for the United States Space Force launch vehicle portfolio. This position is located in El Segundo, CA.
General Responsibilities:
- Project Execution:
- Managing day-to-day actions to ensure the successful operation of the program's mission assurance framework.
- Supporting the customer by addressing issues and providing innovative solutions with proposed courses of action.
- Ensuring continuous adherence to and effective utilization of AATS and NSSL compliance documents.
- Solving complex problems and identifying innovative solutions, often working independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.
- Leading teams or projects to solve complex problems using analytical thinking, tools, and judgment.
- Process Management:
- Maintaining continuity of the NSSL Mission Assurance processes.
- Applying project management and engineering knowledge to assess and improve processes, methods, and tools used in the design, certification, and launch of vehicles.
- Assessing metrics related to AATS Mission Assurance processes.
- Serving as an authority in Launch Vehicle Mission Assurance processes and supporting customers in briefings, status reviews, and other Space Systems Command processes.
- Integration, Coordination, and Communication:
- Communicating complex concepts, anticipating potential objections, and influencing others to adopt a different point of view.
- Developing training materials related to Mission Assurance processes.
- Planning, coordinating, and participating in reviews, providing assessments and recommendations.
- Preparing the customer team for and directly supporting Mission Assurance Councils, Mission Assurance Forums, and other meetings.
- Preparing weekly and other written evaluations and reports.
Basic Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in a STEM field, with a track record of identifying and implementing innovative solutions to address customer needs.
- Demonstrated initiative, ingenuity, and sound judgment in supporting a United States Government customer.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
- Proven written and presentation abilities, effectively communicating through written documents and delivering presentations.
- Ability to lead and inspire others without relying on formal authority or positional power.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with Confluence and Jira is a plus, as these tools are commonly used for collaboration, project management, and documentation.
- Ability to be on-site at the Launch Angeles Air Force Base (El Segundo, CA) with limited notice to support customer meetings.
Clearance Requirements:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Space Launch Vehicle Mission Assurance.
- Familiarity with Space Systems Command (SSC) and experience working with Government entities.
- Experience implementing a business intelligence system.
- Desire to stretch beyond one's comfort zone and take on challenging assignments outside of recurring obligations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with diplomacy, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
