ManTech seeks a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Underway Replenishment (UNREP). This position is based onsite in Port Hueneme, CA.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute to system design, prototyping, test and evaluation, and fielding of UNREP equipment that maintains critical at-sea logistics capabilities for the U.S. Navy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Becoming a subject matter expert in UNREP procedures and equipment operation
  • Becoming proficient in identifying repair needs, maintainability challenges, and obsolescence risks in UNREP equipment
  • Using programs such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks to design, draft, and/or modify equipment designs
  • Collaborating with subcontractors, senior engineers, and senior technicians on design projects
  • Reviewing engineering drawings and schematics for accuracy and completeness
  • Completing engineering calculations related to loads and forces applied during UNREP system operation at sea
  • Participating in Engineering Change Proposal teams to resolve issues in deployed systems and propose documentation updates as needed
  • Developing and/or reviewing Design Specifications for various UNREP systems and associated logistics requirements
  • Conducting ship checks of UNREP sites for future installations
  • Ensuring compliance with all NAVSEA and shipyard installation requirements
  • Willingness to travel (less than 25%), including potential underway shipboard testing and training

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering projects or services, including interpreting ship schematics, working with control systems or variable frequency drives, and utilizing engineering software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in the design, evaluation, or maintenance of shipboard mechanical systems, with preference for UNREP or comparable Navy logistics support equipment; relevant naval operational experience may be substituted

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with shipyard and NAVSEA installation requirements and documentation
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism in interactions with employees, clients, and management
  • Effective problem-solving skills and adaptability to evolving requirements
  • Confidence working in various settings, including office, shop, and shipboard environments
  • Experience working with Control Systems and/or Variable Frequency Drives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs, planks, or galleyways and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (computers, printers, etc.)
  • Capability to go onboard ships and work in an industrial and operational environment
  • Ability to climb ladders and go through scuttles onboard vessels
  • Occasional movement around the office to access files and equipment

The projected compensation range for this position is $63,700.00-$105,800.00.
