ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Linux System Administrator to join our team in Bremerton, WA (Puget Sound Naval Shipyard)This is an onsite position.

The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems as well as supporting teammates in other Linux based environments. The role includes system installation, integration, troubleshooting, and providing technical solutions to optimize the operational capabilities of the RHEL systems. The successful candidate will work closely with IT professionals and contractors, ensuring systems are stable, secure, and properly configured.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Install and integrate hardware, perform system fixes, and apply updates and enhancements to RHEL systems

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software interface issues and other complex or non-routine problems

  • Review and implement Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) to ensure systems meet security compliance

  • Ensure the stability, security, and integrity of operating systems by supporting system development and maintenance

  • Recommend improvements for system performance and troubleshoot operational challenges

  • Document supported services, processes, configurations, and system fixes to ensure clear and accurate system records

  • Maintain relationships with customers and provide tailored solutions to meet diverse needs

  • Collaborate with IT professionals, contractors, and vendors to optimize system performance and efficiency

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline; may accept six additional years of related experience in lieu of degree

  • 2+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator, Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Experience working in a virtualized environment

  • Possess an active IAT II Cybersecurity Workforce IA Certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CISSP, CCNA Security, CySA+, etc.)

  • Must have or be willing to obtain an Operating System Certificate (e.g. Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate, etc) within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly with hardware/software interoperability

  • Experience working in large-scale, complex IT environments

  • Expertise in system integration, updates, and patch management

  • Proficiency in reviewing, planning, testing, and implementing Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs)

Clearance Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required and an active Secret security clearance prior to starting this position

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for up to 50% of the time

  • Occasional movement within the office for communication and accessing resources

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally


The projected compensation range for this position is $96,100.00-$159,900.00.
