ManTech is seeking an Engineering Technician V experienced in underwater acoustics and Towed Arrays to work with and lead a team of Engineers and Technicians across a portfolio of engineering services.
Summary:
This role serves as the cradle-to-grave owner of acquisition system equipment including pre use checks, installation, acquisition, post use checks, maintenance and logistics. Candidate will also engage with Senior Engineers for design reviews, troubleshooting, and implementing technical solutions associated with US Navy related acoustics systems. Work locations are contractor and government sites and include office, electronics laboratory, warehouse, and waterfront maritime environments, and the position requires occasional physical work.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supports operation and maintenance of complex portable data acquisition systems including electric, electronic, and mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and computer system operation
Performs a variety of software and/or hardware engineering activities of an analysis, design, or test nature
Participates on project teams and performs alongside engineers and technical staff
Plans and conducts research, development, or installation of products and systems in conformance with engineering design and customer specification
Serves as project lead, supervising multiple teammates and interfacing with numerous external customers
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
5+ years of experience with acoustic sensors and signal processing.
Experience and thorough understanding of in-water measurement arrays, equipment maintenance, and the interfacing of hardware and software for operation of measurement arrays
Clearance Requirements:
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred experience:
Towed Array handling, installations, maintenance, and operation in US Navy environment
Advanced technician skills, soldering, and troubleshooting electronic equipment
Demonstrated leadership experience in sonar and towed array operations and maintenance
Periodic travel (~4 times a year historically) is desired
Physical Requirements:
Occasional minor physical work including carrying boxes and test equipment up to about 50 lbs or handling long cables
Occasional waterfront support in an industrial warehouse or maritime environment
