MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Journeyman Systems Engineer to join our team in Patuxent River, MD. This is an onsite position.
This position collaborates with a cross-service team to develop and deploy mission-critical systems that enhance planning, execution, and post-mission analysis across naval aviation platforms. The role supports a high-visibility, rapid Agile acquisition program delivering next-generation systems with real-time collaboration, automation, and advanced mission planning capabilities for Navy and Marine Corps aircrew, replacing legacy systems.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Participating in Agile software development activities such as backlog grooming, prioritization, sprint reviews, program increment reviews, and capability evaluations
Applying systems engineering methods to identify, design, and test solutions to complex engineering challenges, guiding system development and managing technical risks
Overseeing software acquisition and requirements management, including analysis, documentation, review, and evaluation of system changes and interfaces
Leading cross-functional working groups and collaborating with leadership, engineers, vendors, and software leads to develop solutions and enhance CMPC capabilities
Engaging with users to gather input and feedback for continuous improvement of NGNMPS, and coordinating with test and evaluation teams to assess software performance
Reviewing and contributing to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models, project plans, schedules, and system descriptions
Preparing reports and briefs, delivering technical analyses and progress reviews to NAVAIR leadership, and actively participating in Agile development activities, technical reviews, and management boards
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university
3+ years of recent, relevant experience
Demonstrated expertise in an engineering discipline
Hands-on experience with modern software technologies, large-scale Agile development, and DevSecOps practices
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience utilizing MBSE models
Experience with Next-Generation Naval Mission Planning System (NMPS), Collaborative Mission Planning Continuum (CMPC) and associated software
Clearance Requirements:
Must have an active Secret security clearance
Physical Requirements:
Tasking is primarily computer based. The person in this position must be able to operate and perform tasking on a PC.
Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, clients, and management through email, phone, and other virtual communication methods (e.g. TEAMS, ZOOM).
The projected compensation range for this position is $75,700.00-$126,300.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
