MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our vehicle sustainment team in Erbil, Iraq. The selected candidate will provide maintenance and logistics support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Research, plan, design and develop new applications for electro-mechanical equipment and systems.
Review contractor's standards, specifications and other documentation to determine mechanical engineering requirements.
Design, repair or review gas and diesel engines, simple mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation and/or instrumentation systems using analytical and investigative methods and techniques to ensure systems meet required specifications.
Gather and correlate basic data and performs routine engineering research and development assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests to develop new applications or upgrade existing hardware.
Guide and assist technicians in fabrication and installation of simple mechanical and related equipment and routine systems to ensure conformance of product and systems with engineering design and customer specifications.
May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions or improve equipment or system function.
May review and correct drawings to ensure that products are in accordance with proper engineering techniques and specifications. Tasks may require physical abilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
6+ years of qualified automotive maintenance experience. 1 year college in related field accepted in lieu of 1.5 years' experience. Relevant Technical Training certificate accepted in lieu of 1 year.
Qualified mechanical experience includes one or more of the following: light or heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tactical vehicles, ground systems, generators, power plants, aircraft or any diesel or gasoline powered equipment or vehicle.
Must have prior training or maintenance experience on MRAP FOV systems
Familiar or knowledgeable with MRAP/RCV systems
Proven maintenance, repair and technical experience and background in industrial manufacturing, commercial maintenance or military operations or maintenance.
Maintenance support experience includes operations, system troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, maintenance and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to component level.
Proficient with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters.
Experience applying industry and/or military standard troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty system components.
Must be able to meet all government CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) requirements for foreign travel into operational locations; Travel to hostile areas is required.
Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED, and a U.S. Passport valid for at least two years beyond the start date.
Desired Qualifications:
Willingness to travel to various US or OCONUS locations.
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel.
Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
Must be able to work in high noise areas.
Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts.
Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard.
