Description & Requirements

ManTech’s Compliance department is seeking an Executive Director of Compliance to support ManTech and its Chief Compliance Officer in overseeing, administering, and enhancing the Company’s Compliance and Ethics program.  The Executive Director of Compliance will focus on developing, implementing, and refining processes designed to appropriately address regulatory risks.  The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the government contracting space.

This position is remote within the Washington, DC area and will require the employee to come into the Herndon, VA office as needed or visit local office sites. Travel will also be required outside the DMV area as needed.

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

Compliance Program

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource regarding applicable US government contracting compliance laws, regulations, and industry-leading standards.

  • Provide consistent and clear guidance related to company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations so that business decisions and operations are conducted in a manner that complies with ManTech’s high ethical standards and maintains customer reputation.

  • Evaluate training program effectiveness in promoting appropriate understanding, adoption, and enforcement in the application of ManTech policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with the business to address compliance policy violations, identify root causes, and design reasonable corrective action, as appropriate.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholder departments, investigative partners, and program and senior leadership.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current and emerging government contracting risks, including risk management methods.  Conduct assessments and develop strategies to address and mitigate those risks. Identify risks associated with compliance matters, while retaining the ability to think and work proactively and strategically.

  • Continuously evaluate ManTech practices against industry-leading standard measures to refine and improve ManTech’s compliance program.

  • Collaborate with ManTech’s Investigations team to continuously evaluate and improve internal controls and processes related to prevention and detection of alleged or suspected potential non-compliances with law, regulation, contract, or Company policies.

  • Serve as project manager for ManTech’s Policy & Procedure Steering Committee activities, which streamlines critical policies and procedures and makes them available to ManTech’s approximately 9,000 employees globally.

  • Evaluate and provide guidance on situations of potential personal conflict of interest.

  • Develop and provide training on government contracting topics, including compliance issues.

Ethics Program Development

  • Drive the continuous development of the ethics program by creating ethics training modules, workshops, and communications that resonate with employees at all levels.

  • Work collaboratively with the business to weave ethical standards into all aspects of the organization’s operations, particularly within the context of government contracting.

  • Lead the administration of the annual employee ethics survey; manage action plans development and results reporting.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 10+ years of work experience supporting a mature compliance program, including 7+ years in the government contracting industry.

  • Compliance certification such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP).

  • Strong working knowledge of compliance topics relevant to the government contracting industry (e.g., personal and organizational conflicts of interest, procurement integrity, FCPA, false claims act, FAR, DFARS, Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA), etc.)

  • Excellent facilitation skills, including the ability to gain cross-department consensus.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving and facilitation skills.  Ability to apply detailed knowledge of organizational process and procedures to evaluate risk, develop appropriate approaches to support compliance strategies and goals, and remain flexible and responsive to business needs.

  • Experience leading strategic process or program change.

  • Executive-level verbal and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to effective lead discussions and meetings with management at all levels.

  • Adept at writing communications/reports and presenting findings in a digestible manner to senior management.

  • Great leadership skills, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Ability to learn quickly, influence senior management, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Experience managing teams and demonstrated ability to develop growth opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or a law degree (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.

  • Experience leading a company-wide policy steering committee.

  • Working knowledge of data analytics procedures / techniques.

  • Experience establishing compliance metrics to track compliance program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Well-organized, with project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume workload (multiple projects at once, handling issues to timely conclusion).

  • Experience identifying opportunities for automation within the compliance program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time 

  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel 

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery 

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations


The projected compensation range for this position is $146,400.00-$244,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.  In addition, ManTech invests in it’s employees beyond just compensation.  ManTech’s benefits offerings include, dependent upon position, Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, Short Term and Long Term Disability, Retirement and Savings, Learning and Development opportunities, wellness programs as well as other optional benefit elections.
