ManTech is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Engineering Technician III to join our team in Port Hueneme, CA. This position supports the Naval Warfare Center (NWC) Underway Replenishment (UNREP) Division’s maintenance support to Military Sealift Command (MSC) platforms. The successful candidate will assist with UNREP equipment overhaul, troubleshoot issues, and support advanced planning and operational maintenance efforts for UNREP systems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with UNREP equipment overhaul at the UNREP Test Site, including troubleshooting transmissions during diagnosis and pretesting phases.

  • Work with ship managers to organize and complete maintenance tasks for UNREP equipment.

  • Become a subject matter expert in UNREP equipment maintenance and operation through on-the-job learning and training at the UNREP Test Site and onboard US Naval Ships (USNS).

  • Complete maintenance on equipment onboard USNS UNREP capable platforms and at the UNREP Test Site.

  • Complete detailed reports of ship visits and the support provided during maintenance events.

  • Proactively communicate and work with senior leadership, co-workers, and customers to resolve technical issues and provide insights into maintenance tasks.

  • Perform other duties as assigned related to ship maintenance and operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED).

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in technical maintenance (auto, oilfield equipment, machine work, Naval rates such as MM, EM, BM).

  • Two (2) or more years of experience working with UNREP equipment, specifically in troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience working aboard ships or in a shipyard environment.

  • Must have a valid passport and be able to travel within the United States for ship visits and maintenance tasks (Up to 50%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Naval experience as a Boatswain's Mate, Shipboard Engineering, or similar technical rates.

  • Familiarity with Shipyard and NAVSEA installation requirements and supporting documentation.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

  • Experience using wiring lists, schematics, blueprints, and verbal/written instructions to route, tag, test, and terminate shipboard cables.

  • Experience with UNREP Station equipment and operation.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to read and understand ship schematics and technical manuals.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, clients, and management.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance prior to starting this position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time.

  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs, planks, or galley ways.

  • Ability to crawl and maneuver in confined spaces as required.

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (computers, printers, etc.).

  • Ability to go onboard ships and work in an operational and industrial environment.

  • Able to climb ladders and go through scuttles onboard vessels.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers via email, phone, or virtual meetings.


The projected compensation range for this position is $52,900.00-$88,900.00.
