ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and client-oriented Data Scientist to join our team in Herndon, VA. This is a Hybrid position. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement advanced data science capabilities to achieve client mission goals. You will collaborate with a team of consultants, engineers, and data scientists to leverage AI, data science and machine learning to deliver solutions to clients. The ideal candidate will have deep data science skills and experience, a firm understanding of machine learning frameworks, and client-oriented approach to applying technology to complex problems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

• Design and perform experiments to evaluate aspects of emerging and fast-changing data science and related technologies, such as generative AI, quantum, and explainable AI techniques.

• Maintain currency with published state-of-the-art data science and analytics methods and applications. Design and perform benchmarking evaluations and applied research to address new problem sets. Seek out opportunities to apply new and emerging techniques to client use cases.

• Design and develop solution accelerators, prototypes, proofs-of-concept, repeatable methodologies for use in client engagements. 

• Develop models and solutions applied to problem sets in a broad range of data science areas, including but not limited to natural language processing, graph analytics, computer vision, anomaly detection, geo-spatial analysis, and data visualization. 

• Apply design thinking or other solution-based methods to solve problems consisting of various qualitative activities that support the generation of insightful, human-centered and impactful design solutions. 

• Perform knowledge elicitation from client of business problem details and incorporate that knowledge into algorithms, models, and approaches in client solutions. 

• Contribute data science expertise to solution development through whiteboarding sessions with clients, partners, and coworkers.

• Address data science technical challenges in the development of solutions, including algorithms, models, data manipulation, or other technical challenges related to data science. 

• Communicate findings to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders and engage clients by effectively conveying complex technical concepts.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field and 10 years of experience OR a Master's degree and 8 years of experience. 

• In depth knowledge of Data Science and AI offerings from one or more cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Oracle, IBM, Azure and GCP). 

• Deep experience working with Python or R programming languages.

• Experience constructing and performing complex database search queries. 

• Experience with the full life cycle of development and deployment for a variety of types of Machine Learning models. 

• Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellence in client-facing discussions and presentations. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Master's degree or PhD in a related field. 

• Experience with analyzing and reporting on diverse data. 

• Deep expertise in one or more data science specialties, such as natural language processing, computer vision, or deep learning. 

• Top Secret Clearance and/or TS/SCI with Polygraph

• Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative. 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including communicating information to a senior executive audience. 

Clearance Requirements:

• Must have active/current Secret clearance or above with ability to obtain TS/SCI w/ polygraph 

Physical Requirements: 

• Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time 

• Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel 

• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer 

• The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and clients, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
