ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Commercial Logistics Operational Planner to join our team in Herndon, VA.

The Commercial Logistics Operational Planner leads the development and execution of air, maritime, and sea logistics strategies, including storage, freighting and movement of all supply classifications. This role manages the complete commercial logistics lifecycle, requiring detailed planning, management, and coordination of customs, tariffs, agricultural regulations, and ITAR compliance for storage, supply and movement. This demanding position requires a deep understanding of commercial logistics best practices and the complexities of a global logistics environment, necessitating proactive problem-solving, strategic thinking, and exceptional attention to detail to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operational solutions. Develop and execute freight strategies for air, land, and sea transportation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and manage strategic storage, movement, VAT Taxes, agriculture inspection compliancy and freighting solutions across all supply classifications

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate international and host nation trade elements (customs, tariffs, agriculture, ITAR).

  • Demonstrate understanding of commercial logistics best practices.

  • Navigate complex regional operations with global logistics solutions.

  • Ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective logistical operations.

  • Engineering a new or modified supply chain network to meet customer requirements

  • This position will require 100% travel

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 20+ years experience providing Global logistics management and network transportation services to the US Defense enterprise, private commercial, and/or a Fortune 500 company.

  • Experience developing Traffic Management System (TMS) Models for commercial logistics carriers.

  • Experience in supply chain management technologies such as AI, Automation, cloud computing, IoT, Blockchain, and advanced analytics.

  • 20+ years experience working in and planning  both 1PL - 4PL Logistics Companies

  • 10+ years experience managing logistics operations globally

  • Successfully led, in a senior leader role, a portfolio of commercial logistics supporting the US federal government and Department of Defense.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field

  • Certification, experience, and training with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management; ISO 22301:2019 Business Continuity Management; and ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management. Lean Six Sigma or Process Improvement: Certification or demonstrated experience in applying process improvement methodologies to enhance logistics efficiency.

  • Experience as an Operations Manager at a distribution center or a Senior Supply Chain Analyst

  • Project Management Certification: PMP certification is highly desirable

Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
