MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Class Desk Support Engineer to join our team in Patuxent River, MD. This is an onsite position.
This position supports the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Systems Engineering Department (SED). This is an opportunity to be part of a team that plays a crucial role in keeping our nation’s military safe and mission successful.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leveraging Naval Aviator subject matter expertise (E-2/C-2 aircraft) to define and document technical data for NATOPS/NATIP products and associated weapons systems
Analyzing operational suitability of naval aviation platforms, weapons, sensors, and systems
Developing, preparing, and managing operational and maintenance material to ensure the safe and effective employment of aircraft and weapon systems
Developing and presenting Naval Aviation Missions and Capabilities (NAMC) training seminars to Department of Defense (DoD) personnel
Applying analytic expertise to support technical exchanges, briefings, and workshops, recommending new tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
Providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on specific aircraft/weapon systems and subsystems, including operational procedures, installation, maintenance, and failure analysis for avionics, airframe, and navigation systems
Delivering advanced technical knowledge and analysis on specialized applications, supporting functional systems design, integration, documentation, training, and troubleshooting
Reviewing and troubleshooting technical problems for software, hardware, and systems, providing solutions using data review methodologies and automated evaluation programs
Analyzing data, solving complex problems, and communicating findings to peers, subordinates, and senior management to address events affecting organizational operations
Managing and executing projects across business operations, strategic initiatives, workforce development, and business improvement to support complex technical and organizational tasks
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, management, technical, or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university
12+ years of recent and relevant professional experience with aircraft tactical systems employment, including Class Desk support, coordination with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Fleet stakeholders, and involvement across all acquisition lifecycle phases—from requirements development through sustainment
Must be an O-4 or higher and a graduate of a Navy Weapons School, Test Pilot School (TPS), or Marine Aviation Weapons Training Squadron-1 (MAWTS-1)
Must be a Weapons Tactics Instructor (WTI) and meet one of the following: Navy Pilot or NFO with at least 1000 flight hours, Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), Tactics Officer (TACCO), Head of a Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), Weapon Systems Officer (WSO), Weapons School Instructor, Former Department Head or Officer in Charge (OIC) with Level IV WTI, or graduate of CAEWWS, EAWS, or Intelligence Schools.
Experience with NAVAIR engineering policies, processes, and technical review requirements; experience supporting Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR); and development of risk assessments, safety reports, and technical plans
Experience in Flight Clearances, Airworthiness issues, Requirements Management, Risk Management, and Configuration Management
Experience in Systems Safety and active participation in Systems Safety Working Group (SSWG) meetings
Preferred Qualifications:
E-2C/D Hawkeye background
Clearance Requirements:
Must have an active Secret security clearance
Physical Requirements:
Tasking is primarily computer based. The person in this position must be able to operate and perform tasking on a PC as well as operate other typical office equipment (e.g. copying machine, shredder, projection systems, etc.).
Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, Customers, and management through email, phone, and other virtual communication methods (e.g. TEAMS, ZOOM).
The projected compensation range for this position is $114,100.00-$191,100.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
