MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Certified Welder to join our vehicle sustainment team in Fort Cavazos, Texas. The selected candidate will provide maintenance and logistics support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.

**Please Note**: You will be required to validate your skills and abilities through a standardized testing and certification process. You must demonstrate your welding skills in accordance with applicable certification and testing per AWS DI.1 and ManTech Weld Procedures. If you are unable to successfully validate your welding skills, ManTech reserves the right to withdraw this offer or terminate your employment. If at any time after your hire date, you are unable to perform the duties and tasks of the position for which you were hired, or to maintain contractually required specific welding certification, ManTech reserves the right to terminate your employment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Research, plans, designs, and develops new applications for electro-mechanical equipment and systems; reviews contractor's standards, specifications, and other documentation to determine mechanical engineering requirements.

  • Designs or reviews simple mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation and/or instrumentation systems using analytical and investigative methods and techniques to ensure systems meet required specifications.

  • Gathers and correlates basic data and performs routine engineering research and development assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests to develop new applications or upgrade existing hardware.

  • Guides and assists technicians in fabrication and installation of simple mechanical and related equipment and routine systems to ensure conformance of product and systems with engineering design and customer specifications.

  • Performs welding on ballistic hulls and metals, read blueprints and associated installation   instructions, and perform assembly within specified tolerances; prepares instructional guides for repairing, calibrating, and maintaining equipment and systems; provides design details and recommends modifications to engineering designs as needed.

  • May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions or improve equipment or system function; may review and correct drawings to ensure that products are in accordance with proper engineering techniques and specifications.

  • Maintain an organized work environment and work with minimal supervision; communicate effectively through email, telephone, and text messaging using excellent verbal and written skill and will perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have Ten (10) years welding experience.

    • Must have prior AWS D1.1 Certification in SMAW, FCAW and GTAW in welding of High Hard Armor (HHA), Aluminum and Mild & Stainless Steels as a minimum.

  • Must have institutional knowledge of electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic skills acquired through years of direct military or commercial support to maintain US proprietary low-density systems.

  • Must be familiar with maintaining gasoline and diesel-powered welding equipment and accessories,

  • Must have familiarity with Portable Plasma and Oxy-Acetylene Cutting Systems, be proficient with MS Office Applications including creating and managing Excel Spreadsheets and Adobe Pro for opening and editing pdf documents.

  • Must be able to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.

  • Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior MRAP Armor Welding Certification.

  • Familiarity with USG Property Control systems.

  • Familiarity with Logistics, Shipping and Receiving.

  • Willingness to accept temporary US or OCONUS transfers to other assignments, if needed. 

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel.

  • Must be able to push, pull, and reach.

  • Must be able to work in high noise areas.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts.

  • Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard.
