MANTECH seeks a highly motivated, career and customer-oriented Acoustics Systems Engineer to join our team in Silverdale, WA.  This is an onsite position.

This role supports the Carderock Acoustics program and will be involved in the engineering design review, operational analysis, and execution of Navy-related acoustic trials, primarily focusing on the Trident MS platform. The ideal candidate will leverage a strong background in electrical and mechanical engineering principles, coupled with deep operational experience, to lead technical tasks and direct complex evaluations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct detailed Trident MS Patrol Analysis and post-performance data reduction to assess and report on acoustic performance and compliance with mission objectives.

  • Perform Engineering and Design Review: serve as a subject matter expert in the review of Mechanical and Electrical component designs and associated drawings to ensure adherence to sound silencing, acoustic signature requirements, and rigorous programmatic standards.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of acoustic evaluations, specifically supporting Trial Equipment Loads and static site acoustic trials. This includes ensuring data quality in real time, performing detailed preparations (e.g., calibration injects, system integration), and managing test team coordination.

  • Engage with Senior Engineers for design reviews, system integration, troubleshooting, and implementing technical solutions. Perform analysis, design, or test activities for moderately complex software and/or hardware systems.

  • Prepare detailed written, technical reports, documentation, and presentations. Ensure all engineering activities and installations comply with relevant safety and technical standards and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited University in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical) or Physics

  • 5+ years of related experience in the engineering, design, development, or testing of complex systems.

  • Previous Officer of the Deck (OOD) underway or equivalent experience gained while serving with U.S. Uniformed Services

  • 3+ years of hands-on, demonstrated experience with navigation and/or piloting safety working with U.S. Uniformed Services ships or submerged operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field

  • Five (5) years of experience with both submarine and surface ship acoustics, including involvement in auditing acoustic signature programs or chairing a Noise Reduction Board (or similar signature control roles)

  • Demonstrated track-record of project management of system development and integration, including coordinating U.S. Navy ship operations with a test and evaluation program agenda

  • Working knowledge of underwater acoustic tracking systems and their operation

  • Hands-on experience in the buildup, testing, debugging, and calibration of underwater acoustic systems

  • Proficiency in technical software and programming, such as MATLAB, VHDL, C, Java, or Python

  • Experience with nuclear power plant operations and enforcing rigorous programmatic standards is highly desirable

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have a current/active Secret security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $114,100.00-$191,100.00.
